A market research company, The Hartman Group" reported that:
One-third of American consumers use single-serve packs to help control the amount of food they eat, according to a new report by The Hartman Group (Bellvue, Wash.). "Pulse Report: Portion Control from Consumer Perspective" found consumers want more choices in portion control products to help with weight management. Among consumers who do not buy single-serve or reduced calorie-count products, 33% don't buy them because they're not available in the products they are most interested in. 82% of consumers agreed that supermarket bakeries should offer more items in single-serve sizes, and 84% agreed with the notion that restaurants should offer a variety of portion sizes for each entrée. "We see consumers increasingly looking for portion control options when eating out," said Laurie Demeritt, president and COO of The Hartman Group.
